National Lok Adalat On December 13 Offers Chance To Settle Pending Traffic Challans At Reduced Rates
On December 13, 2025, motorists across India have a chance to clear old minor traffic challans at discounted rates or even get full waivers — a one-day event that can save money and simplify paperwork.
Pune | December 3, 2025: The National Lok Adalat scheduled for December 13 is being seen as a major chance for vehicle owners to clear long-pending traffic fines at significantly reduced rates. Authorities have confirmed that only compoundable traffic violations will be taken up, allowing citizens to settle dues quickly without lengthy legal processes.
Offences eligible for settlement include signal jumping, minor overspeeding, illegal parking, missing pollution certificates, irregular number plates, and helmet or seatbelt violations. In many cases, fines may be reduced by 50 percent or even waived, depending on how old the challan is and the nature of the violation.
Motorists are advised to check their pending challans in advance through online e-challan portals and arrive at the Lok Adalat with essential documents such as registration certificates, driving licences, identity proof and challan copies. Once presented before the conciliator bench, eligible cases will be resolved on the spot, ensuring immediate settlement without further hearings.
Officials clarified that serious offences like drunk driving, rash or negligent driving, hit-and-run incidents and cases involving injuries or fatalities will not be considered. These will continue through routine judicial proceedings.
For citizens with old pending challans, this one-day nationwide initiative provides a practical opportunity to clear dues, avoid future penalties and prevent complications during insurance renewals or vehicle transfers. Traffic authorities are urging motorists to make the most of the event and reduce backlogs in the system.
