New ‘Jyoti Savitri’ ZP School Inaugurated in Khanwadi, Marks Beginning of Phule Bicentenary Celebrations

‘Jyoti Savitri’ a new Zilla Parishad school was inaugurated in Khanwadi by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, marking the launch of Mahatma Jyotiba Phule’s 200th birth anniversary celebrations.

Pune, April 11, 2026 In a significant push towards strengthening rural education infrastructure, a newly constructed Zilla Parishad school named ‘Jyoti Savitri’ was inaugurated in Khanwadi in the presence of Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Ajit Pawar. The event also marked the official commencement of the state-level celebrations for the 200th birth anniversary of social reformer Mahatma Jyotiba Phule. The inauguration ceremony witnessed the presence of several senior ministers and public representatives, underlining the importance of the initiative. Among those present were Chhagan Bhujbal, Chandrakant Patil, Mangal Prabhat Lodha, Atul Save, Jaykumar Gore, Dadaji Bhuse, Dattatray Bharne, Aditi Tatkare and Minister of State Yogesh Kadam.

The newly developed school aims to provide modern educational facilities to students in rural areas, ensuring access to quality learning environments. Named after Mahatma Jyotiba Phule and Savitribai Phule, the institution is expected to inspire and empower students while promoting the values of education and social reform championed by the iconic leaders. Officials stated that the initiative is part of a broader effort to enhance educational standards in underserved regions and create better opportunities for students. The school is equipped with improved infrastructure designed to support holistic development and academic excellence.

The launch also sets the tone for a series of welfare and educational programs planned across Maharashtra as part of Phule’s bicentenary year.
