Artificial intelligence giant OpenAI has initiated another major internal restructuring, with co-founder and president Greg Brockman being handed expanded authority over the company’s product strategy amid intensifying competition in the global AI industry.
According to multiple reports, Brockman will now officially oversee OpenAI’s core product direction, consolidating leadership over flagship offerings including ChatGPT, Codex and the company’s developer-focused API ecosystem. The move comes as OpenAI accelerates efforts to create a more unified “AI agent” experience for consumers, enterprises and developers.
The reshuffle follows the medical leave of Fidji Simo, who previously led OpenAI’s AGI deployment division. Brockman had initially stepped into the role on an interim basis before the company decided to formalise the transition as part of a broader organisational overhaul.
As part of the restructuring, Nick Turley, who previously led ChatGPT, is expected to focus more heavily on enterprise products and strategic industry partnerships. Meanwhile, other senior leaders have reportedly been reassigned to oversee consumer experiences, infrastructure growth and platform integration.

Industry analysts believe the changes reflect OpenAI’s increasing focus on AI-powered agents capable of handling tasks autonomously rather than simply responding to prompts. The company is also facing rising pressure from rivals such as Google and Anthropic in areas including coding assistants, enterprise AI tools and next-generation productivity platforms.
The leadership changes arrive during a critical period for OpenAI as the company continues expanding its commercial products while simultaneously navigating legal scrutiny, rapid growth and speculation surrounding a possible future public offering.
Founded in 2015 by figures including Sam Altman and Greg Brockman, OpenAI has emerged as one of the world’s most influential AI companies following the global success of ChatGPT and its generative AI technologies.
