Tensions rise after reports of secret meetings between Shinde and UBT MPs under Operation Tiger allegations, while leaders deny claims and political blame game intensifies in Maharashtra politics scene continues

Mumbai, April 11, 2026 A political controversy has erupted in Maharashtra after reports surfaced claiming that senior leaders from both Shiv Sena factions were involved in a secret meeting under an alleged “Operation Tiger,” reportedly aimed at persuading Members of Parliament from the Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray (UBT) camp to switch sides. The claims triggered intense political debate and speculation across state politics, with opposition and ruling camp leaders exchanging sharp statements.
According to circulating reports, a late-night meeting allegedly took place in Thane involving Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and several UBT MPs. However, key leaders, including MP Arvind Sawant, strongly denied any such gathering, calling the reports baseless and misleading. Sawant asserted his unwavering loyalty to Uddhav Thackeray and challenged critics to produce evidence of the alleged meeting.
Shiv Sena leaders from the Shinde faction dismissed the controversy as politically motivated misinformation, stating that similar rumours have been circulating for over a year without any factual basis. Eknath Shinde also rejected the claims, saying no such operation or meeting had taken place and accusing sections of the media of spreading confusion.
Meanwhile, political rhetoric escalated further after party spokesperson Sanjay Shirsat remarked that political “operations” are not unusual and suggested that strategic moves happen when targets are identified. His comments were interpreted as fueling the ongoing speculation, though he did not confirm any specific activity.
On the opposing side, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader and MP Sanjay Raut launched a sharp attack on the ruling faction, alleging internal instability and accusing rivals of repeatedly attempting to weaken opposition parties through political engineering.

Amid the growing war of words, Arvind Sawant reiterated his loyalty to the Thackeray camp, stating that he would remain with the party until his last breath. He further claimed that such rumours are being circulated ahead of an upcoming crucial hearing regarding party identity and symbol rights.Political observers say the dispute reflects deepening factional rivalry within Maharashtra’s Shiv Sena landscape.
