PCMC Cracks Down on Plastic Use, Collects ₹31,000 Fine in Anti-Pollution Drive Civic authorities in Pimpri-Chinchwad conducted a special drive against plastic use and poor sanitation, collecting ₹31,000 in fines while seizing banned plastic materials from violators
Pimpri-Chinchwad | 24March, 2026: The Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has intensified its action against plastic usage and unhygienic practices, with its health department’s flying squad carrying out a targeted enforcement drive across key areas. The operation resulted in the collection of ₹31,000 in fines from citizens and commercial establishments found violating plastic ban norms.

In Bhosari’s Indrayani Nagar, officials penalised several businesses for using banned plastic, collecting ₹10,000 in fines and seizing around five kilograms of plastic material. Additional action in the same locality against littering, unhygienic activities, and continued plastic use led to further penalties amounting to ₹8,000.
A separate drive in Nehrunagar saw authorities imposing fines of ₹13,000, along with the seizure of nearly three kilograms of plastic. Civic officials said the action is part of an ongoing effort to enforce environmental regulations and improve sanitation standards in the city.

Assistant Commissioner Kiran Kumar More stated that the civic body remains committed to promoting a plastic-free city and ensuring public health safety. He urged residents and businesses to strictly follow waste management rules, including segregation of wet and dry waste, and to avoid the use of banned plastic materials.Authorities have warned that such enforcement drives will continue, with strict action against violators as part of the broader mission to create a cleaner and more sustainable urban environment.
