Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation Makes Fire Safety Registration Mandatory For All Educational Institutions
PCMC has ordered all schools, colleges, coaching centres and training institutes in Pimpri-Chinchwad to register with the Fire Department and obtain official fire-safety clearance. Non-compliance may invite strict action.
Pune | December 3, 2025: The Pimpri-Chinchwad administration has introduced a compulsory fire-safety compliance system for all educational institutions across the city. The move applies to schools, colleges, coaching centres, tutorials, skill academies and any facility where teaching or training activities are conducted. Authorities said the decision aims to prevent lapses in emergency preparedness, especially in buildings that accommodate large groups of students every day.
Under the new rules, institutions must register with the Fire Department, install functional safety equipment and undergo inspection before receiving an official compliance certificate. Requirements include fire-fighting systems, emergency alarms, accessible exits and staff trained in evacuation procedures. Officials have warned that ignoring these norms will result in strict action under municipal safety regulations.
To streamline the process, the civic body has launched an online platform along with a QR-based application link. Institutions can upload documents, schedule inspections and track the status of their certification digitally. The administration believes this will reduce delays and increase accountability.
The directive follows rising concerns about fire safety standards after a recent coaching-centre incident highlighted structural and operational deficiencies. Authorities urged all educational operators to complete the registration process without delay, emphasizing that student safety cannot be compromised.
