Pimpri Chinchwad (Pune), October 29, 2025 – Pimpri Chinchwad – The Crime Branch Unit 3 of Pimpri Chinchwad Police arrested two men within 12 hours of committing a brutal murder in Chakan. The incident took place in Nanekarwadi, where a long-standing land dispute led to the killing of 45-year-old Vikas Laxman Nanekar. He was found dead in a Hyundai car on MIDC Road early Tuesday morning, his throat slit with a sharp weapon.
The arrested accused have been identified as Babusha alias Babaji Gyaneshwar Nanekar, aged 45, a resident of Sai Datt Paradise Society in Nanekarwadi, and Yogesh Saudagar Jadhav, aged 29, also from Nanekarwadi. Acting on specific intelligence, police traced the suspects to the Nanoli area and apprehended them before they could flee further.
According to the complaint filed by Raju Shantaram Nanekar, the murder was a direct fallout of an ongoing land dispute between the victim and Babusha. Preliminary investigations revealed that both accused had planned the attack after a heated argument a few days earlier. During questioning, Babusha reportedly admitted to the killing, citing personal enmity and financial disagreements over property ownership.
Police officials confirmed that Babusha has a lengthy criminal record. He is previously booked in several cases at Chakan and Dehuroad Police Stations, including robbery, assault, extortion, and vehicle theft. His background as a habitual offender made him a key suspect from the start of the investigation.
The operation was led by Senior Inspector Santosh Kasbe and his team from Crime Branch Unit 3, with close coordination from the Chakan Police Station. The swift arrest, made within 12 hours of the crime, highlights the efficiency and responsiveness of the Pimpri Chinchwad Police in handling serious criminal cases.
Further investigation is underway to verify the details of the land dispute and recover the weapon used in the murder. Police are also probing whether others were involved in the planning or execution of the crime. Residents of Nanekarwadi expressed relief after the arrests, describing the incident as a shocking escalation of a local property disagreement.
Authorities have urged citizens to seek legal resolution in land disputes and avoid personal retaliation. The case remains under active investigation, and both accused are currently in police custody for interrogation.
