Pune Municipal Commissioner Naval Kishore Ram announces disciplinary action against inactive and misleading PMC officials after repeated negligence found during inspections.

Pune, October 29, 2025 – Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) Commissioner Naval Kishore Ram has announced that strict action will soon be taken against inactive and misleading officials within the civic body. During several surprise inspections across the city, the commissioner found serious lapses in cleanliness, waste management, and response to citizen complaints, despite repeated warnings.

Ram stated that many officials continue to neglect their responsibilities and submit incomplete or inaccurate reports, misleading the administration about on-ground conditions. He emphasized that such behavior damages public trust and undermines the functioning of the civic system. He added that officers who fail to meet performance expectations will be identified and replaced with those who maintain a proven record of efficiency and integrity.

The commissioner personally inspected areas such as Shewalwadi, Manjri, and Ghole Road, where garbage piles, open drains, and encroachments were visible despite prior instructions. Following these findings, disciplinary measures have already been initiated against some staff members. Ram said the administration’s goal is to ensure transparent and responsive governance where citizens can see visible improvement in their surroundings.

He further mentioned that the PMC will focus on accountability and consistent monitoring to prevent recurring negligence. Officials with poor performance will not be allowed to continue in their positions, and action will be taken without delay. This step aims to strengthen the overall work culture within the corporation and improve service delivery for Pune residents.

With civic elections approaching, the move signals a strong message from the administration that inefficiency and corruption will not be tolerated. Ram urged all departments to take the warning seriously and ensure that public grievances are addressed promptly. The commissioner’s firm stance reflects the city’s commitment to improving infrastructure, sanitation, and citizen satisfaction through better governance and field accountability.
