Pimpri–Chinchwad PSI Pramod Chintamani was dismissed after the Anti-Corruption Bureau caught him red-handed accepting ₹46.5 lakh first instalment of a ₹2 crore bribe. Search of his home yielded further ₹51 lakh.
Date: 07 December 2025: A police sub-inspector attached to the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Pimpri-Chinchwad police, Pramod Ravindra Chintamani, has been removed from government service after being caught accepting a bribe of ₹46.5 lakh the first installment of a demand of ₹2 crore.
According to the state Anti‑Corruption Bureau (ACB), Chintamani demanded ₹2 crore from a lawyer, promising favorable treatment for his client in a cheating case. Initially asking for ₹2 lakh, the amount was later raised to ₹1 crore for him and another ₹1 crore allegedly for a senior officer.

On 2 November, ACB laid a trap near Rasta Peth in Pune; Chintamani was detained while accepting ₹46.5 lakh (₹1.5 lakh in real notes and ₹45 lakh in dummy notes). During a search of his residence in Bhosari, the bureau seized an additional ₹51 lakh in cash.
Following this, senior police officials of the Pimpri‑Chinchwad Police Commissionerate moved quickly. On 7 December, orders were issued dismissing Chintamani from service. The decision came after multiple allegations including a larger scam: investigators claim Chintamani defrauded over 40 people under the pretext of “doubling their money,” amounting to a total fraud of approximately ₹5 crore.

The case has caused alarm across the police force and is seen as a stern warning against corruption. ACB continues its probe to determine whether any other officers were complicit, especially in connection to the larger fraud scheme.
