Pune Airport returns to normalcy with 31 arrivals and 31 departures handled; only IndiGo flights remain disrupted after widespread cancellations.
Pune|06 December 2025: Flight operations at Pune Airport have largely returned to normalcy, with the disruption now limited solely to flights operated by IndiGo. Airport management confirmed that since midnight, all functions have been running smoothly, and except for the leading private airline, other carriers adhered to their regular schedule without interruptions. A total of 31 arrival flights and 31 departures were successfully managed today, handling around 5,122 arriving and 4,805 departing passengers.

Airlines including those with domestic and regional operations reported full compliance with schedules. However, IndiGo’s services continued to face severe issues: while seven arrival and seven departure flights were operated, the airline cancelled 21 arrivals and 21 departures (totalling 42 flight cancellations). The large number of grounded aircraft had occupied multiple parking bays, leading to apron congestion and earlier causing delays for some other flights. Airport authorities underscored that the delay-causing circumstances stemmed largely from crew shortages and operational misalignments on the airline’s part.
In response to the disruption, Pune Airport mobilised extra manpower across all departments — terminal services, ground handling, security and passenger facilitation — to avoid broader chaos. Teams were deployed especially during the night hours to manage crowd flow, coordinate apron usage, and support timely turnaround for flights. The airport also liaised with air traffic control, ground-handling agencies, and security staff to ensure uninterrupted functioning of unaffected flights.
In a statement, the Airport Director emphasised that the airport infrastructure and staff remain fully operational, and it is only airline-specific issues affecting certain services. He added that close coordination is ongoing with the affected airline to restore its schedule at the earliest and avoid cascading disruptions. Meanwhile, passengers flying with other carriers have been travelling without major disturbance — a relief after the prior days of uncertainty.
The resumption of normal operations at Pune Airport comes amid nationwide turbulence in flight schedules triggered by widespread cancellations by IndiGo, which operates a significant share of domestic flights. The situation at Pune underlines how disturbances at one airline can ripple through airport operations, but thanks to prompt coordination and contingency planning, major breakdowns have been averted.
As of now, airport officials advise travelers to verify flight statuses — especially if booked with IndiGo — and recommend alternate airlines to those with urgent travel plans. With many flights back on schedule and ground operations restored, Pune Airport appears to have successfully navigated a challenging period, even as the airline-specific disruption continues.
