One person was killed and three injured after a cement truck allegedly suffered brake failure and crashed into multiple vehicles near Lavale Phata in Pirangut.
Pune, October 3, 2026: One person was killed and three others were injured after a cement-laden truck allegedly lost control and collided with multiple vehicles on the Pune–Kolad Road near Lavale Phata in Pirangut, Mulshi, on Friday morning.
The accident took place at around 8:15 am near Shripad Hotel. A cement truck, dumper, Eicher vehicle and two motorcycles were involved in the crash, leaving five vehicles damaged.
The deceased was identified as Laxman Narayan Kubal, 52, a resident of Ganesh Nagar in Pirangut. One of the injured, Nitin Balasaheb Bhilare from Kasar Amboli, sustained serious injuries and was reported to be in critical condition.
The truck driver suffered a leg fracture, while another person was also injured. The injured were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. Kubal’s body was sent to the Primary Health Centre in Paud for a postmortem examination.
Cement Truck Allegedly Suffered Brake Failure
According to preliminary information, the cement-laden truck was travelling towards Pirangut after descending the ghat section when it allegedly suffered brake failure.
At around 8:15 am, the truck collided with an Eicher vehicle travelling on the Pune–Kolad Road near Shripad Hotel. The truck then hit a dumper that was parked on the roadside.
Two motorcycles travelling towards Pune were also caught in the collision. One of the riders, Laxman Kubal, died at the spot, while Nitin Bhilare sustained serious injuries.
Police Begin Investigation
Police and local responders reached the accident site shortly after the crash and helped shift the injured to hospital.
Authorities are investigating the circumstances of the accident, including the reported brake failure. Further details are awaited as the investigation continues.
