Pune Metro Sets Up Emergency Medical Rooms at Mandai, Swargate Stations for Ganeshotsav

Pune Metro has set up emergency medical rooms at Mandai and Swargate Stations with Sancheti and Apollo Hospitals for Ganeshotsav crowds.

Pune, September 19, 2026: With large crowds expected across central Pune during Ganeshotsav, Pune Metro has introduced dedicated emergency medical facilities at Mahatma Phule Mandai and Swargate Metro stations.

The initiative has been launched in collaboration with Sancheti Hospital and Apollo Hospitals to provide immediate medical assistance to commuters and devotees who experience sudden illness, injuries or other health emergencies during the festival rush.

Doctors and Nurses Deployed

Specialist doctors, nurses and essential medical equipment have been made available at the two stations.

The facilities are intended to provide immediate first aid and basic emergency care, allowing passengers to receive prompt medical attention without necessarily having to travel to a hospital for minor injuries.

Services available at the stations include wound dressing, bandaging and other basic emergency treatment.

Medical Team Already Assists Injured Devotees

The emergency arrangements have already been put to use.

According to Pune Metro, devotees injured in a minor incident amid the crowd at Swargate Metro Station recently received immediate first aid from the medical team stationed there.

The presence of medical personnel at busy stations is expected to provide quicker assistance in situations where large crowds could otherwise make it difficult for injured or unwell passengers to reach medical facilities promptly.

Special Arrangements for Festival Crowds

Pune Metro has introduced several measures to manage the increased passenger movement during Ganeshotsav.

The network has been operating additional services during the festival, with trains running at shorter intervals to accommodate increased demand. Pune Metro recorded 2,62,671 passengers on the first day of Ganeshotsav, highlighting the scale of the festival-related travel rush.

Mahatma Phule Mandai has been identified as one of the stations likely to experience particularly high passenger movement because of its proximity to major Ganeshotsav attractions.

Metro authorities have also advised passengers to consider alternative stations such as Kasba Peth, Swargate, PMC, Deccan Gymkhana and Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj Udyan, depending on their destination.

Focus on Passenger Safety

Pune Metro officials have said that the safety, convenience and well-being of devotees and commuters remain a priority during the festival.

The emergency medical rooms form part of the broader crowd-management and passenger-safety arrangements being implemented during Ganeshotsav.

With thousands of devotees expected to travel through central Pune over the coming days, the availability of on-site medical teams could provide faster assistance during medical emergencies at some of the city’s busiest Metro stations.
