March 16 | Pune : The Maharashtra government has unveiled an ambitious long-term plan to expand Pune’s metro rail network to nearly 200 kilometres in order to address the city’s rapid urban growth and mounting traffic congestion. The announcement was made during the inauguration of the newly constructed Metro Bhavan in Pune Speaking at the event, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said the city is witnessing rapid expansion and increasing urbanisation, which demands a comprehensive and futuristic transport system. He stated that the government is preparing an integrated mobility plan that will operate on three levels surface transport, elevated corridors and underground tunnels—to create a more efficient and seamless public transport network.
