In a public rally held in Fursungi–Uruli Devachi ahead of upcoming municipal elections, Ajit Pawar — also guardian minister of Pune district — addressed growing public frustration over poor road conditions. Expressing embarrassment at the state of local infrastructure, Pawar admitted that even his journey to a temple in the area left him shocked by the deteriorated roads.
“Seeing such poor road conditions made me embarrassed,” he told residents, emphasising that daily commuting has become burdensome for many. He assured people that the development of the region would be treated as a priority and urged officials to work with honesty and speed to improve infrastructure.
The remarks reflect heightened scrutiny of municipal road maintenance across Pune, especially after earlier incidents and public outcry over potholes, broken roads and hazardous conditions in areas like Kondhwa, Hinjewadi, and beyond. Local commuters have long complained about poor driving surfaces, frequent damage, and delayed repairs that worsen quality of life and safety.
Pawar’s statement brings fresh hope to residents of Fursungi, Uruli Devachi and surrounding areas. Political analysts say this development push could shape voter sentiment in the upcoming elections — if followed by concrete results.
