Pune Rural Hosts Successful 51st Kolhapur Range Police Sports Meet Marked by Strong Participation

The 51st Kolhapur Range Police Sports Meet concluded in Baramati with over 1,100 police athletes. Satara bagged overall championship, while senior officers praised discipline, coordination and the event’s spirited participation.
Baramati| November 22, 2025: The 51st Kolhapur Range Police Sports Meet came to a close on Friday at the Police Sub-Headquarters parade ground in Baramati. Pune Rural Police hosted the event this year, organising competitions from November 17 to 21 with participation from six districts.
Deepak Shivanand Pandey, Additional Director General of Police and Director of Police Communications, IT and Transport, attended as chief guest. Special Inspector General Sunil Fulare presided over the ceremony. Senior officers including Pune Rural SP Sandeep Singh Gill, Baramati Additional SP Ganesh Biradar and other range-level officials were present.

The final day began with the 100-metre sprint, which turned out to be the most intense contest of the meet. Chaitanya Marde of Satara won in the men’s category, while Gauri Sawant, also from Satara, secured first place in the women’s event. In his address, SP Gill said sports strengthen fitness, morale and teamwork within the police force.
IG Fulare congratulated the winners and encouraged all athletes to prepare for the upcoming Maharashtra Police Sports Competition. He appreciated the coordination between police and schools invited to witness the events and acknowledged the discipline by participating personnel.
Chief guest Pandey applauded the organisation, parade display and band performance, adding that the event highlighted the unity and competitive spirit of the force.

This year’s competition featured seven team sports and twelve individual events. More than 900 male and 250 female police athletes from Pune Rural, Kolhapur, Sangli, Satara, Solapur Rural and Solapur City took part. Satara claimed the overall championship with 207 points, topping both men’s and women’s athletics. Kolhapur and Sangli secured the next positions in both categories.
The ceremony ended with a cultural program by Lokkalachi Lalkar, Mumbai, showcasing traditional Maharashtrian folk arts. Pune Rural Police also hosted a grand feast for all attendees.
