Pune transport authorities confirmed November 30 as the final deadline for HSRP installation and warned strict penalties for nearly 15 lakh vehicles still pending compliance despite repeated deadline extensions.

Pune|Nov 29, 2025: The Pune transport department has announced that November 30 will be the last and non-negotiable deadline for installing High Security Registration Plates (HSRP) on all eligible vehicles. After extending the timeline five times over the past year, authorities clarified that no further relaxation will be offered.

Pune has over 24 lakh vehicles that fall under the mandatory HSRP requirement. Yet nearly 15 lakh owners have not completed the upgrade, prompting the department to plan strict enforcement once the deadline passes. Officials warned that non-compliant vehicle owners may face penalties as part of a larger push to improve road safety and curb vehicle-related crimes.

HSRP plates are designed to prevent tampering, improve identification, and support faster tracing during thefts, traffic violations, or criminal investigations. The department believes uniform implementation will help streamline surveillance and enhance security across the city.

Citizens have been urged to finish the installation process before November 30 to avoid action and ensure smoother compliance going forward.
