Samsung has officially announced the rollout of its much-anticipated One UI 9 Beta program based on Android 17, with India set to receive the update later this month. The beta update, initially launched for the Galaxy S26 series in select global markets, is expected to expand to India on May 26, according to reports and company announcements.
The South Korean technology giant said the new One UI 9 software aims to deliver a more personalised and intuitive user experience with upgrades focused on creativity, accessibility, security and artificial intelligence integration. The beta program is currently available for Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26+ and Galaxy S26 Ultra users in countries including the United States, Germany, the United Kingdom and South Korea.
One UI 9 introduces several notable changes across Samsung applications and system controls. Samsung Notes now includes decorative tape tools and additional pen styles, while the Contacts app has received integration with Creative Studio for personalised profile card creation. The Quick Panel has also been redesigned, allowing independent adjustment of brightness, sound and media controls with improved layout customisation.
Samsung has placed major emphasis on accessibility improvements in the latest beta update. Features such as adjustable Mouse Key speed, an upgraded TalkBack package and a new “Text Spotlight” option are designed to enhance readability and navigation for users. The update also strengthens device security by identifying potentially harmful applications, blocking suspicious installations and recommending removal of risky apps.

Users interested in accessing the beta version can register through the Samsung Members application once the program becomes available in India. After registration, eligible devices can download the update through the Software Update section in device settings.
The One UI 9 rollout arrives as Google prepares a broader Android 17 ecosystem focused heavily on AI-powered tools, smarter security systems and improved digital wellbeing features. Industry experts believe Samsung’s faster beta rollout reflects increasing competition among smartphone brands to deliver advanced AI experiences and quicker software updates to users.
