Shirdi to Be Developed as a Spiritual Corridor, Says Minister Vikhe Patil

Shirdi
Maharashtra Minister Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil has proposed developing Shirdi as a spiritual corridor—upgrading infrastructure, utilities, and pilgrim-focused facilities while boosting tourism-driven job creation.
Ahilyanagar| 01 November, 2025:Shirdi, the famed pilgrimage town in Maharashtra’s Ahilyanagar district, is poised for a major transformation. Minister Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil has proposed that Shirdi be developed as an “spiritual corridor” to better serve its growing population of devotees and to expand its infrastructure in a planned way.
According to Vikhe Patil, the town’s rapid growth—both in resident population and pilgrim footfall—calls for urgent upgrades in facilities, amenities, and urban planning. He emphasized that development should prioritise pilgrim convenience while also creating tourism-led job opportunities for local residents.
During a meeting with local officials and party functionaries, he reaffirmed that ahead of municipal development and elections, the town needs better layout planning, modern infrastructure, and sustainable expansion. New proposals are likely to include improved roads, utilities, and possibly theme-park-style amenities developed through public- private partnerships.
Vikhe Patil’s vision builds on existing investments in Shirdi. Recently, the town has received significant funds for water supply, drainage, and related civic works. The spiritual corridor plan is expected to channel further government support into making Shirdi not just a pilgrimage destination but a model of devotional- tourism infrastructure.
While detailed project reports are yet to be made public, the minister’s announcement has raised hopes among devotees and local residents alike. Urban planners, civic bodies, and political watchers will now follow how the plan evolves into tangible changes on the ground.
