Shock at Renowned Pune College: Illegal Late Fees Allegedly Going Into Professor’s Pocket?

Students at a Pune women’s college have alleged unauthorized fee collection through a professor’s personal QR code, raising serious concerns over transparency, accountability, and possible financial misconduct.

Pune | May 4, 2026: A controversy has surfaced at Shri Siddhivinayak Women’s College, run under the reputed Maharshi Karve Stree Shikshan Sanstha, after students alleged that money was being collected illegally in the name of practical examination “late fees.”

According to complaints made by students, a faculty member allegedly demanded ₹300 from several students claiming they had delayed their practical-related work. However, instead of directing the amount to the institution’s official bank account, the professor reportedly shared his personal QR code and asked students to transfer the money directly to his account. The matter came to light after one student questioned the legitimacy of the payment process. In response, the professor allegedly told her to pay into his personal account for the time being and assured that the amount would later be deposited with the institution. This explanation has triggered widespread criticism among students and parents.

Students claim that several others may have been asked to make similar payments. No official receipt, challan, or institutional acknowledgment was reportedly issued for the transactions, raising concerns about financial irregularities and lack of administrative oversight. The incident has led to serious questions about transparency and internal controls at one of Pune’s well-known women’s educational institutions. Student groups and guardians are now demanding a formal inquiry into the matter and strict action if wrongdoing is established.

Education experts say any fee collection process must be routed through official channels with proper receipts and documented approvals. Use of personal accounts for institutional collections, if proven, could amount to misconduct and violation of administrative norms. As the allegations gain attention, all eyes are now on the college management and governing authorities to determine whether an independent investigation will be launched and whether disciplinary action will follow.
