Authorities have issued a notification imposing speed limits on the Mumbai–Pune Missing Link stretch, along with key decisions restricting entry of heavy vehicles to enhance safety and traffic management.

The decision comes through an official notification that also outlines restrictions on the movement of certain categories of vehicles, particularly heavy goods carriers.

The Missing Link project, a crucial infrastructure upgrade aimed at reducing travel time between Mumbai and Pune, has been witnessing increasing vehicular movement even as final stages of work continue. To prevent accidents and ensure smoother transit, speed regulations have now been clearly defined for different types of vehicles. Officials stated that light motor vehicles will be required to adhere to moderate speed limits, while stricter caps have been placed on buses and other transport vehicles. The move is intended to minimize risks on newly constructed sections, which include tunnels, elevated corridors, and sharp curves.

In addition to speed control, authorities have taken a firm stance on heavy vehicles. Certain categories of goods carriers will face permanent restrictions on this stretch, while others may be allowed only under regulated conditions.
