Two young men suspected of links with terror groups ISIS and Jaish-e-Mohammed have been detained from Kurla and Khadavli for allegedly radicalising youth through encrypted online platforms.

April 6, 2026 | Mumbai In a coordinated operation, the Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) and Delhi Police have detained two suspected of being in with banned ISIS and Jaish-e-Mohammed. The was carried out in Mumbai’s Kurla area and nearby Khadavli, following intelligence inputs linking the suspects to a wider network. Authorities confirmed that mobile phones, laptops, and several incriminating documents were seized during the raids. Investigators believe the duo may have been actively involved in online radicalisation, targeting young individuals and attempting to recruit them into extremist activities.

The development comes after Delhi Police’s Special Cell recently arrested operatives linked to similar networks in Odisha. During interrogation, officials reportedly uncovered leads pointing toward connections in Mumbai, prompting further surveillance and eventual by joint teams. Earlier, a separate raid in Govandi had led to the detention of another suspect. Information gathered during his questioning is said to have played a crucial role in identifying the latest accused. Officials suspect that the detained individuals used social media platforms and encrypted messaging services to influence and indoctrinate vulnerable youth.

Preliminary findings indicate a possible pattern of systematic “brainwashing,” where recruits were encouraged to align with extremist ideologies and potentially participate in unlawful activities. Authorities are continuing their to determine the extent of the network and identify additional associates. Both suspects have been taken to Delhi for further interrogation as part of an ongoing multi-state probe. Security agencies remain on high alert amid concerns about digital radicalisation and cross-border terror links.
