Mumbai | March 13, 2026: The weather department has forecast a significant change in weather conditions across Maharashtra between March 17 and March 20, warning of thunderstorms, lightning, gusty winds and the possibility of hail in several regions of the state.

According to officials, the impact of the weather system is expected to be more pronounced in the Vidarbha, Marathwada and Khandesh regions, along with parts of central Maharashtra. Meteorologists have indicated that the intensity of the weather activity is likely to increase between March 18 and March 20.

Authorities have advised residents to remain alert during this period as strong winds and lightning could disrupt normal activities in several districts. Local administrations have also been asked to monitor the situation and ensure necessary preparedness.

The advisory comes at a crucial time for the agricultural sector, as the rabi harvest season is currently underway in many parts of the state. Officials from the agriculture department have urged farmers to take precautionary steps to protect harvested crops from potential damage caused by rain and strong winds.

Farmers have been advised to safely store harvested produce or cover it properly to prevent losses. They have also been asked to closely monitor updated weather forecasts and plan harvesting and other agricultural activities accordingly.

Officials said timely precautions could help minimise crop damage and reduce financial losses for farmers if adverse weather conditions develop as predicted.
