Pune| October 18,2025: The COBRA Workers’ Union, led by Gulab Kamble, held a protest in Pune today to raise concerns about persistent issues faced by bio-toilet workers. Key demands included salary and bonus revisions, provident fund (PF), employee state insurance (ESI), and timely provision of payment slips.

Senior DME Jitendra Haral addressed the protesting workers, assuring that the Diwali bonus would be distributed before the festival. He further committed that the remaining grievances would be addressed and resolved within 10 days, accompanied by written confirmation.

The protest was attended by several union members, including Mahebub Atar, Suraj Gaikwad, Manoj Sakhre, Ganesh Kamble, and Sameer Sheikh. Workers highlighted that despite fulfilling their responsibilities diligently, administrative delays and irregularities in salary and benefits have caused significant stress.

Union leaders emphasized that bio-toilet workers perform essential services in Pune, maintaining hygiene and sanitation across municipal areas, and timely compensation is crucial for their morale and livelihood.

The COBRA Workers’ Union has urged the authorities to ensure compliance with salary and benefit regulations and maintain transparency in future payments. This protest is part of ongoing efforts to hold municipal authorities accountable for workers’ rights and ensure fair treatment ahead of the festive season.
