Nagpur, Oct 18, 2025 — BJP MLA Krishna Khopde recently met with officials of the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) to address concerns about the cumbersome documentation requirements imposed on citizens for municipal services. During the discussion, Khopde emphasized that insisting on multiple documents often creates unnecessary obstacles, delays service delivery, and can discourage residents from accessing essential municipal facilities.

Khopde offered two key recommendations to the municipal authorities. First, he suggested that NMC officials should adopt a more flexible approach when reviewing document submissions, allowing citizens to submit alternative proofs where standard documentation is unavailable. This, he explained, would help residents avoid repeated visits and bureaucratic delays. Second, he advised streamlining processes for common municipal services, including property registration, sanitation approvals, and water connection applications, to ensure faster and smoother service delivery.

The MLA pointed out that overly strict documentation requirements disproportionately affect elderly citizens, low-income families, and migrants, who may lack access to certain official papers. Simplifying these processes, Khopde noted, would enhance inclusivity and ensure that all residents can avail themselves of essential civic services without undue stress.

Khopde’s guidance reflects a broader push for improving governance and accountability within municipal operations. By easing document requirements and creating more citizen-friendly procedures, the NMC can not only enhance efficiency but also build public trust in local administration.

Officials of the Nagpur Municipal Corporation acknowledged the suggestions and assured that steps would be taken to review current policies, assess citizen feedback, and implement changes that minimize procedural burdens while maintaining regulatory compliance.
