While many individuals prefer this posture for comfort and convenience, experts warn that it may pose multiple health risks if continued over long periods.

One of the primary concerns is a condition known as Toasted Skin Syndrome, caused by prolonged exposure to heat emitted from laptops. The heat generated by the device can lead to skin discoloration, irritation, and in some cases, long-term damage. Medical professionals emphasize that even moderate heat exposure over time can affect sensitive skin areas, especially when there is direct contact.
Apart from skin-related issues, using a laptop on the lap often leads to poor posture. Since the screen is positioned lower than eye level, users tend to hunch forward, putting strain on the neck, shoulders, and spine.
