The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in Bihar has finalized its seat-sharing agreement for the 2025 Assembly elections. JD(U) will contest 101 seats, while BJP will contest 100 seats, reflecting a strategic move to strengthen the alliance.

Patna, Bihar | October 11, 2025 — The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in Bihar has finalized its seat-sharing arrangement for the upcoming 2025 Assembly elections. In a strategic decision, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), despite being the larger partner, will contest 100 seats, while Janata Dal (United) [JD(U)] will contest 101 seats. This reflects the alliance’s focus on maintaining unity and strengthening the coalition’s prospects ahead of the polls.

The seat allocation for the NDA partners is: JD(U) 101 seats, BJP 100 seats, Lok Janshakti Party (R) 29 seats, Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular) 8 seats, and Rashtriya Lok Samta Party 5 seats. This balanced division ensures each ally receives a fair share of constituencies while maintaining harmony within the coalition. Analysts note that granting JD(U) slightly more seats is a calculated move to acknowledge its organizational strength and influence in key regions of Bihar.

The Bihar Assembly elections will be held in two phases on November 6 and 11, with results expected on November 14. This seat-sharing agreement positions the NDA to present a united front and potentially maximize its reach across the state, factoring in regional dynamics and voter demographics. Political observers suggest that the cooperation between JD(U) and BJP in this arrangement may prove decisive in contested constituencies, particularly in districts where both parties have strong voter bases.

This arrangement also demonstrates the NDA’s broader strategy to consolidate its support by including smaller allies such as LJP(R), HAM(S), and RLSP, which have been allocated constituencies in proportion to their regional influence. The finalized seat-sharing formula is expected to strengthen the alliance’s overall performance and reduce internal friction, ensuring coordinated campaigns and voter outreach across Bihar.

The NDA’s move has been seen as a calculated approach to balance electoral strength, maintain alliance cohesion, and enhance chances of securing a majority in the Bihar Assembly. Party leaders emphasize that a collaborative strategy will help in countering opposition challenges and ensuring effective governance if the coalition returns to power.
