Indian boxers Jadumani Singh and Preeti Pawar entered the Commonwealth Games 2026 quarter-finals in Glasgow, with Jadumani beating Pakistan’s Sumama Rehman 5-0 and Preeti stopping Malawi’s Deborah Mtenje via RSC.
Glasgow, 27th July 2026: Indian boxers Jadumani Singh and Preeti Pawar delivered commanding performances at the Commonwealth Games 2026 in Glasgow, storming into the quarter-finals of their respective weight categories and moving just one win away from a podium finish.
Jadumani Singh blanked Pakistan’s Sumama Rehman 5-0, while Preeti Pawar beat Malawi’s Deborah Mtenje via RSC, with both bouts staged at the Scottish Event Campus (SEC) as India’s boxing contingent continued its strong showing at the Games.
Competing in the men’s 55kg round of 16, Jadumani Singh outboxed the Pakistani fighter to claim a comprehensive 5-0 unanimous decision despite facing a considerable height and reach disadvantage. The Manipuri boxer leaned on sharp footwork and quick combinations to repeatedly work his way past his opponent’s guard. The opening round was tightly contested, with Jadumani edging it narrowly, before he seized complete control in the second round, landing a series of crisp combinations that forced his rival onto the back foot. He carried that dominance into the final round, using composed footwork and quick counters to seal a unanimous verdict. Jadumani is set to return to the ring for his quarterfinal bout against Zambia’s Mwengo Mwale.
Earlier in the day, Preeti Pawar was equally emphatic in the women’s 54kg category. The Asian Games bronze medallist asserted her dominance from the opening bell, forcing a standing eight count early in the first round before comfortably taking it on the scorecards. Her opponent attempted to raise the tempo in the second round but repeatedly ran into heavy punches, prompting a second standing eight count and forcing the referee to call off the contest. Preeti will next face Northern Ireland’s Nicole Clyde for a place in the semi-finals.
The wins added to a strong overall day for India at the Games, with the boxing contingent’s progress fuelling hopes of multiple medals from Glasgow 2026.
