Maharashtra | October 16,2025:The National Highways Authority of India has launched an innovative incentive program to improve sanitation at toll plazas — the “Clean Toilet Picture Challenge.” Under this scheme, highway users can earn ₹1,000 credited to their FASTag account by reporting unhygienic toilets, provided they follow the required submission norms. The initiative runs until October 31, 2025.
To participate, users must install or update to the latest Rajmargyatra app, take a clear, geo-tagged, time-stamped photograph of a dirty toilet at a toll plaza under NHAI jurisdiction, and upload it via the app along with their name, vehicle registration number (VRN), location, and mobile number.
Here are the full terms and caveats to keep in mind:
- Eligibility: Only toilets built, operated, or maintained by NHAI are considered. Those at fuel stations, dhabas, or on state roads are excluded.
- One Reward Rule: Each vehicle registration number can claim the reward only once during the campaign period.
- One Submission per Toilet per Day: Even if multiple users report the same toilet, only the first valid image (via the app) is eligible for the reward.
- Verification: Submitted photos undergo AI-assisted screening, followed by manual validation when needed. Altered, duplicate, or previously reported images will be rejected.
- Non-Cash Reward: The reward is given as a FASTag recharge and cannot be converted to cash.
- The Clean Toilet picture challenge is part of the broader Special Campaign 5.0, aimed at enhancing hygiene, transparency, and accountability along national highways.
