Pune: Fursungi Police Book Man for Allegedly Treating Patients Without Medical Qualifications
Fursungi Police have booked a man accused of treating patients at a Bhekrai Nagar naturopathy facility without recognised medical qualifications.
Pune: Fursungi Police have registered a case against a man accused of treating patients at a naturopathy facility in Bhekrai Nagar despite allegedly lacking a recognised medical degree, required training and registration to practise medicine.
The accused has been identified as Shahzad Iqbal Mohammad Khan, also known as Raj Patel, a resident of Sangod in Rajasthan. Police said he was allegedly operating Raj Patel Naturopathy Care in the SP Residency area of Bhekrai Nagar, Fursungi.
The case came to light after a complaint was filed by Dr Rajesh Mahadev Pakhare, a medical officer associated with the Fursungi area. According to police, Khan allegedly claimed to provide treatment to patients despite not possessing the necessary medical qualifications or training.
Police are investigating the nature of the treatments allegedly provided at the facility and how long the operation had been running. Officials are also checking the number of patients who may have received treatment from the accused.
During the inquiry, authorities reportedly examined medicines and medical equipment allegedly found at the premises. Police are also investigating financial transactions connected with the alleged practice.
Separate reports said the accused was operating under the name “Raj Patel” and that discrepancies were found between his identity documents and the name used on his visiting card. Police are examining these details as part of the investigation.
The case highlights concerns over unqualified individuals providing medical or alternative-treatment services without the required credentials. Authorities have previously taken action in Pune against people accused of practising medicine without the necessary qualifications or registration.
Police are continuing the investigation to determine the full extent of the alleged practice and whether additional legal action is required.
