Two PMP marketing executives face charges for misleading the corporation, misusing resources, and mishandling the QR code ticketing system, leading to financial losses and damaging the transport body’s reputation

Pune | November 11, 2025:Two marketing executives of the Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal (PMP) have been booked for allegedly defrauding the transport corporation by providing false information about their experience and misusing official resources. The accused have been identified as Rajan Madhukar Lingayat from Dhankawadi and Gaurav Kulkarni from Kothrud.

According to PMP’s legal officer, Dnyanoba Digambar Jadhav, the duo was appointed in 2024 on a contractual basis as marketing executives with a salary of ₹2 lakh each per month. Their responsibilities included managing PMP’s digital services such as Cargo FL, PayU Dashboard, and the mobile application for QR code-based ticketing.

Between August and September 2025, PMP introduced the QR code ticketing facility for passengers, but the system soon began malfunctioning. The disruption led to a decline in PMP’s revenue, prompting an internal review. The probe revealed that both executives lacked the required technical expertise and had misled officials during their hiring process.

The corporation alleged that the two not only failed to perform their duties efficiently but also misused PMP’s materials and brought disrepute to the organization. Based on Jadhav’s complaint, the Swargate Police registered a case against the duo under charges of fraud and misuse of resources.

Further investigation is being conducted by Police Inspector Vikas Bharmal to determine the extent of financial damage and the involvement of other individuals, if any.
