Pune Police has promised nonstop protection for petrol pump workers after rising assaults. Commissioner Amitesh Kumar ordered increased patrolling, faster response and strict action, assuring safer conditions for over 850 fuel stations.

Pune|November 22,2025: Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar has taken a firm stand after a string of assaults on petrol pump staff. In a review meeting with the Petrol Dealers Association, which represents more than 850 fuel stations, he assured round-the-clock protection, faster police response and strict action against anyone involved in threatening or attacking workers.

Senior officers discussed recent incidents where staff were assaulted, especially during late hours. The association stressed that these attacks put not only employees at risk but also the public, since petrol pumps store highly flammable fuel. They said night-shift workers have been facing growing intimidation, making safety a major concern.

The Commissioner directed all police stations to increase patrolling near fuel stations, respond immediately to distress calls and treat every complaint seriously. He also promised zero tolerance toward vandalism or attempts to create panic at petrol pumps.

The Association welcomed the clear instructions, saying stronger police coordination will help restore confidence among workers and ensure safer conditions across Pune’s fuel stations.
