Pune | December 17 2025:In a major anti-narcotics crackdown, the Pune Police have successfully carried out “Operation Alakniranajan,” a coordinated, multi-city operation that exposed and dismantled a sophisticated hydroponic cannabis cultivation and drug distribution network operating across Maharashtra and Goa.The action comes amid growing concern over the spread of MD, hydroponic cannabis and other synthetic drugs in Pune, particularly their impact on young people and students from elite educational institutions. Acting on specific intelligence and following strict directives from Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar, the Khadki Police expanded an ongoing investigation to trace the complete supply chain.
Considering the seriousness of the case, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone-4) Somay Munde immediately ordered a comprehensive probe to uncover the entire criminal network. Under his guidance, Assistant Commissioner of Police Vitthal Dabhade and Senior Police Inspector Vikramsingh Kadam entrusted the investigation to Police Sub-Inspector Digvijay Chaugule and the Crime Detection Team.
During patrolling, the team apprehended Tushar Chetanvarma, following which Crime Register No. 336/2025 was registered at Khadki Police Station under Sections 2(b), 8(c), 20(b) and 20(2)(b) of the NDPS Act. Interrogation revealed that the accused was sourcing narcotics from Sumit Dedwal and Akshay Maher.

Further inquiry led to the detection of a soil-based hydroponic OG Kush cannabis farm operating from a rented flat in a densely populated area of Pimpri-Chinchwad. Cannabis plants, cultivation equipment and finished narcotics were seized from the premises.
Extending the investigation through technical surveillance, police conducted raids in Mumbai and Goa, resulting in the arrest of key accused Malay Rajesh Deliwala. From him, officers recovered nine types of narcotic substances, including cannabis, OG Kush marijuana, charas, MD, psychedelic mushrooms, LSD blotting paper, cannabis gummies, MAMD pills and CBD oil. Equipment such as weighing scales, sealing bags and a currency counting machine was also confiscated.Investigators revealed that the accused were linked to an international narcotics syndicate, using hawala channels and cryptocurrency transactions to fund and conceal their operations.
