pune 25 jan 2026 :A grand trade fair was organised at Modern College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Shivajinagar, Pune, with the aim of encouraging entrepreneurship and creativity among students. Students from various departments of the college enthusiastically participated in the initiative by setting up their own stalls. This annual activity has been consistently conducted for the past ten years and provides students with valuable hands-on experience of running a business in a real-world setting.

This year’s trade fair witnessed participation from more than 300 students, with a total of 75 stalls set up across the college campus. The stalls featured a wide range of products including clothing, eco-friendly items, handmade jewellery, decorative home décor products, customised name-based ornaments, bouquets, artificial flowers, puja materials and several useful household items. Food stalls emerged as a major attraction, drawing large crowds throughout the event. Popular food items such as bhel puri, pani puri, vada pav, pulao, modak, pizza, burgers, chaat and sandwiches were sold, adding to the festive atmosphere.

One of the unique highlights of the trade fair was the participation of students from the northeastern states of India, who showcased traditional food items from their respective regions. Additionally, several international students also took part in the event, giving the trade fair a multicultural character. The fair effectively showcased the students’ creativity, marketing skills, management abilities and sales techniques, offering them an opportunity to understand customer interaction and business operations.
To enhance entertainment and engagement, fun fair games were also organised as part of the event. Several stalls featured puzzle games, interactive challenges and recreational activities. Attractive gifts were offered to participants who played or won these games. The combination of shopping, food and entertainment created a lively and cheerful atmosphere across the college campus, with students and visitors actively engaging throughout the two-day event.
The trade fair was formally inaugurated on the first day in the morning by the officiating Principal of the college, Prof. Shamkant Deshmukh. The inauguration ceremony was attended by the trade fair coordinator Prof. Mansi Thakur, Vice Principals from various departments, heads of departments and faculty members. During the inauguration, the Principal visited all the stalls, interacted with the students and encouraged them by appreciating their creativity and efforts. He commended the quality of the products designed and presented by the students.
Over the course of two days, students actively managed their stalls, sold their products efficiently and earned profits. Many stall holders also designed promotional posters and advertisements to attract customers, reflecting their understanding of basic marketing strategies. The students displayed confidence, enthusiasm and a strong entrepreneurial spirit, symbolising their aspirations to become successful business professionals in the future.
On January 13, students who participated as stall holders in the trade fair were felicitated with certificates in recognition of their efforts. Special awards were also presented to the most attractive and useful stalls. The trade fair proved to be a meaningful and successful initiative by Modern College, effectively encouraging innovation, creativity and entrepreneurial thinking among students while offering them a memorable learning experience beyond the classroom.
