Long Power Cuts Disrupt Daily Life in Bhosari, Dehu and Yelwadi; Residents Warn of Road Blockade
Residents in Bhosari, Dehu and Yelwadi report prolonged power cuts and seek action from MSEDCL, warning of a road blockade on Friday.
PUNE: Frequent and prolonged electricity interruptions have disrupted daily life in Bhosari, Dehu, Yelwadi and surrounding areas, prompting residents to seek immediate action from the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL).
Residents have reported electricity outages lasting between eight and 14 hours in some locations. The interruptions are affecting households, students, businesses, farmers and other essential activities, while fluctuations in supply and low voltage have added to the difficulties.
In Bhosari, residents have raised concerns about repeated interruptions, particularly during the October heat. Extended periods without electricity have affected household routines, food preparation and the ability to rest after work. Residents have also questioned the time taken to restore the supply and have called for a more reliable electricity distribution system.
In Dehu, Yelwadi and neighbouring villages, residents have reported prolonged outages, with interruptions lasting eight to 10 hours in several areas and reportedly extending to 14 consecutive hours in some locations.
The situation has also raised concerns among students preparing for examinations, farmers dependent on electric water pumps, businesses and establishments that require an uninterrupted power supply. Senior citizens and households have also reported difficulties managing everyday activities during extended outages.
Nitin Gade of the Talegaon-Chakan Highway Action Committee has submitted a representation to MSEDCL officials seeking immediate intervention. The committee has called for an investigation into the recurring supply interruptions and the implementation of technical measures to improve reliability.
The committee has also requested a fixed schedule for planned maintenance work and advance communication to affected residents. It has raised concerns about interruptions between 10 am and 5.30 pm without adequate prior information, stating that advance notice would help households and businesses plan their activities.
The committee has warned that residents may organise a road blockade on Friday, October 16, if the electricity supply in Dehu, Yelwadi and surrounding villages does not return to normal. The representation has also been forwarded to relevant government officials and local authorities.
Residents are seeking clear information about the reasons behind the repeated interruptions, the measures being taken to address them and the expected timeline for a more consistent supply.
The situation has renewed attention on electricity reliability in residential and semi-urban areas around Pune. Residents are expecting MSEDCL to address their concerns, communicate maintenance schedules more effectively and take appropriate technical steps to minimise recurring disruptions.
