Maharashtra, India | February 07, 2026: The polling date was shifted to February 7 following a three-day state mourning declared after the passing of Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, with the State Election Commission updating the schedule accordingly.

Elections are taking place for a total of 731 Zilla Parishad seats and 1,462 Panchayat Samiti seats. A total of 7,438 candidates are contesting across the 12 districts. To facilitate smooth voting, schools, colleges, and government offices in the concerned districts have been closed for the day.

The election machinery, supported by police personnel, has been deployed to ensure a free, fair, and peaceful voting process. Officials have emphasized that adequate security arrangements, monitoring, and logistical support are in place to manage the high voter turnout expected during the day.

Authorities have advised voters to carry valid identification and adhere to election guidelines while casting their votes. Citizens are encouraged to participate actively to strengthen grassroots democracy in the state.
