In Solapur district, 8,334 candidates have applied for 174 police posts. Field tests begin with CCTV and video recording to ensure transparency in recruitment

Solapur | February 09, 2026: A massive turnout of aspirants has marked the start of the police recruitment process in Solapur district, where 8,334 candidates have applied for 174 vacancies in the city and rural police forces. The physical and field tests for this recruitment drive began on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at the main recruitment grounds near the police headquarters in Solapur, with CCTV cameras and video recording systems installed to monitor every stage of the evaluation.

The recruitment covers 95 positions in the rural police unit and 69 positions in the Solapur city police force, drawing thousands of applicants from across the district. For every single vacancy in the rural police, approximately 44 candidates are competing, while in the city police, the competition is even more intense, with 52 aspirants vying for each seat.

Officials said the camp-style field tests will run through 16 February 2026, with a detailed schedule that invited batches of candidates in groups throughout the week. The first test day saw around 500 applicants assessed, with larger groups planned for the following days including thousands more being called on 12, 13, 15, and 16 February. A holiday has been scheduled on 14 February for the rural police contingent.

To bolster transparency and fairness throughout the process, police authorities have set up an extensive CCTV surveillance network on the testing ground, along with video recording of all physical assessments. Tests will include measurements of height and chest, running, long jump, and shot put, all of which will be digitally recorded. This move aims to prevent any human error or malpractice and ensure that candidates are evaluated solely on merit.

Senior officers have urged candidates and community members not to rely on rumours and emphasised that the transparent, technology-assisted testing environment is designed to uphold integrity. Organisers have also assured that all aspirants who applied multiple times for the same post will be evaluated fairly at a single scheduled slot to avoid duplication and confusion.

The robust response in Solapur mirrors broader recruitment enthusiasm across Maharashtra, where massive applicant numbers have been reported in other districts as well, reflecting the strong interest among youth in law enforcement careers and public service roles.

With the physical assessment phase underway and strict monitoring in place, police officials remain confident that the recruitment drive will maintain high standards of transparency and fairness setting a benchmark for future selections in the state.
