Mathura| February 16, 2026: India’s first National Cow Heritage Museum is set to open at Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Veterinary Science University in Mathura under the initiative of the Uttar Pradesh Braj Teerth Development Board. The museum will focus on the religious, cultural, and spiritual importance of cows while educating visitors about the scientific, nutritional, and Ayurvedic benefits of cow-derived products. Officials say this project will create a unique blend of tradition and science, promoting awareness of cow preservation among the public.

The museum will feature approximately 100 digital and symbolic models representing major cow breeds in India as well as rare and endangered varieties. Visitors will have the opportunity to learn about India’s rich cow heritage and the role cows have played in agriculture, society, and culture for centuries. The initiative is expected to enhance educational tourism in the region and raise awareness about sustainable dairy practices.

One of the main attractions will include displays of milk, yogurt, cheese, and ghee, highlighting production processes and benefits. Modern technology will explain the nutritional and Ayurvedic advantages of these products. A dedicated dairy parlor will allow visitors to experience and taste pure dairy items. The museum is anticipated to attract students, researchers, and tourists, strengthening Mathura’s status as a cultural and educational hub. Authorities are confident the museum will serve as a model for similar initiatives nationwide, preserving India’s bovine heritage for future generations.
