81 Teachers Suspended Across Maharashtra After Mass Copying Cases Detected in Class 10 and 12 Board Exams

The Maharashtra State Board has suspended 81 teachers after several incidents of mass copying, impersonation, and misuse of technology were detected during ongoing Class 10 and Class 12 examinations across multiple districts

Mumbai | 09 March, 2026: The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education has initiated strict action after several cases of mass copying were reported during the ongoing SSC and HSC board examinations across the state. Following investigations at multiple examination centres, the board has suspended 81 teachers and staff members for their alleged involvement in examination malpractice.

One of the major incidents was reported at the Arts and Science Junior College examination centre in Chausala, Beed district. During the Class 12 English paper, CCTV footage revealed that several students were engaged in mass copying while the supervisory staff and centre director were allegedly cooperating either directly or indirectly. A case has been registered against 17 individuals and all have been suspended.

Another case emerged from the National Higher Secondary School examination centre in Jaitapur, in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar district, where large-scale copying was reported during English examinations for both Class 10 and Class 12 students.

Authorities also detected the misuse of technology at Bromanwar Vidyalaya and Junior College in Gadchiroli. Students appearing for the Class 12 Political Science paper were found using micronotes and printouts generated using ChatGPT. In this case, three teachers and a staff member were suspended.

Several other centres in Jalna, Nanded, Dharashiv and Beed districts also reported irregularities. At Shri Mainagiri Maharaj Junior College near Jumda Phata, 581 students were allegedly involved in mass copying during the Physics examination. A mobile phone recovered from a laboratory attendant led to the suspension of 28 employees linked to six schools.

The board stated that strict disciplinary action is being taken to ensure transparency and maintain the credibility of the state examination system.
