Indian Oil Tanker Escapes Fujairah Terminal Attack, Sails Safely Toward India With 80,000 Tonnes Crude
An Indian crude oil tanker safely departed UAE’s Fujairah terminal during an attack, highlighting India’s strong maritime diplomacy and energy security preparedness amid rising tensions in West Asia.

March 16 | New Delhi India has once again demonstrated the strength of its maritime presence and diplomatic reach after an Indian-flagged crude oil tanker successfully sailed out of the Fujairah oil terminal in the United Arab Emirates despite an ongoing attack at the facility. According to information shared by the central government on Sunday, the tanker Jag Ladki, carrying around 80,800 tonnes of crude oil, safely departed the Fujairah Single Point Mooring terminal and is now on its way to India. The vessel was in the process of loading crude oil when the attack took place on Saturday, March 14. Officials confirmed that the ship left the port at around 10:30 AM IST on Sunday and all crew members and sailors onboard remain safe. The government said it is closely monitoring the evolving situation in West Asia to safeguard India’s energy security and maritime interests.

The development comes at a time when tensions in the region have escalated and the strategically crucial Strait of Hormuz is witnessing heightened security concerns. Despite the volatile situation, the safe passage of Indian vessels is being viewed as a significant diplomatic and strategic achievement for New Delhi. Jag Ladki is the fourth Indian vessel to successfully exit the conflict-affected zone in recent days. Earlier on Saturday, two LPG carriers—Shivalik and Nanda Devi—also crossed the Strait of Hormuz safely with around 92,712 tonnes of gas onboard.
These vessels were among nearly two dozen ships that had remained stranded in the western part of the strait following the outbreak of hostilities. Another ship transporting petrol from Oman to Africa also exited the region safely on Friday. Authorities stated that Shivalik is expected to reach Mundra Port in Gujarat on March 16, while Nanda Devi will arrive at Kandla Port on March 17, ensuring continued supply lines and stability in India’s energy imports
