April 18, 2026 | Pune: In a decisive move to curb rising criminal activities, Pune Police have externed a notorious offender, Abhishek alias ‘Dadya’ Gaikwad, from Pune city, Pimpri-Chinchwad, and the entire district for a period of one year. The action comes in response to his alleged involvement in multiple serious offences and his role in creating fear among residents in the Sinhagad Road area.

According to police officials, Gaikwad, a resident of Vadgaon Budruk, has several cases registered against him at the Sinhagad Road Police Station. These include charges related to illegal possession of firearms, assault using deadly weapons, and violation of government orders. Authorities stated that he had been repeatedly intimidating local traders and residents by brandishing weapons, thereby disturbing public peace and safety.

Considering the gravity of the offences and the threat posed to law and order, the police initiated externment proceedings under relevant provisions of the Maharashtra Police Act. The proposal was prepared and pursued by senior officials, including Deputy Commissioner of Police Sambhaji Kadam and Assistant Commissioner of Police Ajay Parmar.

A team led by Senior Police Inspector Vinay Patankar and Police Inspector (Crime) Sameer Gaikwad played a crucial role in compiling evidence and ensuring the case was processed effectively. After reviewing the submitted material, the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Zone 3, issued the externment order, barring the accused from entering Pune city, Pimpri-Chinchwad, and the district for one year.

Police officials stated that such preventive measures are essential to control repeat offenders and maintain public order. Residents and business owners in the Sinhagad Road area have expressed relief following the action, hoping it will bring a sense of security and stability to the locality. Authorities have reaffirmed their commitment to taking strict action against individuals who threaten public safety, emphasizing that similar steps will be taken against habitual offenders in the future.
