Rohit Pawar hints at another Pawar family face-off in 2029 elections, as Baramati politics sees rising internal tensions and speculation.

Baramati, April 23, 2026: As polling for the Baramati Assembly by-election progressed on Thursday, the political atmosphere was further electrified by high-stakes speculation regarding the 2029 General Elections. Responding to Jai Pawar’s recent aspirations for a 2029 debut, MLA Rohit Pawar suggested that the constituency might be bracing for another internal family feud, potentially pitting Jai Pawar against Yugendra Pawar.

The remarks come at a time when the Pawar stronghold is already navigating a fractured political identity. Rohit Pawar noted that just as the Lok Sabha elections witnessed a high-profile “sister-in-law vs sister-in-law” contest, a similar trajectory for the next Assembly elections cannot be ruled out. “They are an independent party and free to take their own calls; however, if Sunetra Kaki is not the candidate, an all-party battle against whoever they field is inevitable,” he stated, highlighting the deepening chasm within the family’s political ranks.

Addressing the recurring public sentiment-and Ajit Pawar’s expressed wish-for a family reconciliation, Rohit Pawar offered a pragmatic, if stark, reality check. He emphasized that while emotional appeals for unity persist, the political ground realities are far more complex. He argued that “tough decisions” are often necessary for political progress, noting that exiting power or merging distinct worker bases is not a simple technical maneuver. “Today, we stand as staunch political opponents,” he asserted, dampening hopes for a near-term reunification.

Furthermore, Rohit Pawar alleged a broader political conspiracy behind the repeated “Pawar vs Pawar” narratives. He claimed that certain political interests are deliberately fueling internal strife to dismantle the “Pawar Brand” and diminish Baramati’s political significance. According to him, these external forces are working systematically to ensure the family remains divided. With 2029 candidacy discussions taking center stage on a polling day, the political discourse in Baramati has clearly shifted from immediate local issues to a long-term battle for the family’s legacy
