Google Expands AirDrop-Like Quick Share Support to OnePlus, Oppo, Xiaomi and Vivo Smartphones

Google has confirmed that several upcoming smartphones from OnePlus, Oppo, Xiaomi and Vivo will support enhanced Quick Share functionality, allowing faster and easier cross-platform file transfers between Android and Apple devices.

Mountain View, California | May 13, 2026:
Google has officially announced an expansion of its Quick Share ecosystem, bringing improved cross-device file-sharing capabilities to a wider range of Android smartphones. The move is expected to significantly improve compatibility between Android and Apple ecosystems by enabling easier wireless file transfers similar to Apple’s AirDrop feature.
According to the company, select smartphones from brands including OnePlus, Oppo, Xiaomi and Vivo will soon receive support for the upgraded Quick Share system. The feature is expected to allow Android users to share files more seamlessly with iPhones, iPads and Mac devices without depending on third-party applications or cloud-based transfers.
Reports indicate that devices likely to receive the feature include premium flagship models launching in 2026, alongside future software updates for compatible devices. Google’s Pixel smartphones and Samsung Galaxy devices are among the first Android phones already supporting the advanced Quick Share functionality.
The updated feature aims to simplify file transfers between different operating systems, an area where users have traditionally faced compatibility limitations. With Quick Share, users will reportedly be able to send photos, videos, documents and other files wirelessly with faster speeds and minimal setup requirements.
Google is also said to be introducing QR code-based sharing support for devices lacking native compatibility, further broadening accessibility. Industry analysts believe the expansion reflects growing efforts among technology companies to reduce barriers between mobile ecosystems and improve overall user convenience.

The announcement has generated strong interest among smartphone users globally, especially as cross-platform communication and file-sharing needs continue to rise in both professional and personal environments. Experts suggest the development could strengthen Android’s competitiveness by offering users a smoother and more integrated sharing experience comparable to Apple’s ecosystem.
