Shubham Khairnar has been arrested in connection with the NEET 2026 paper leak case.

Nashik | May 13, 2026:
The investigation into the alleged NEET-UG 2026 paper leak case intensified on Tuesday after police detained a Nashik-based medical student suspected of being part of a nationwide examination leak network. The accused, identified as Shubham Khairnar, was taken into custody by the Nashik Crime Branch following a request from the Rajasthan Police and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

According to officials, Khairnar, a resident of Nandgaon in Maharashtra’s Nashik district and a BAMS student, was allegedly involved in circulating a so-called “guess paper” that reportedly contained questions closely matching the actual NEET-UG 2026 examination paper. Investigators suspect that the material was sold to aspirants for amounts ranging between ₹10 lakh and ₹15 lakh.

Police sources stated that the accused had allegedly altered his appearance in an attempt to avoid identification. He was detained from the Indiranagar area of Nashik while reportedly preparing to leave the city. Authorities believe his custody could help uncover the larger network involved in the leak.

The controversy erupted after multiple reports suggested that several questions from the leaked “guess paper” matched portions of the actual NEET-UG 2026 examination conducted earlier this month. Following mounting outrage among students and parents, the National Testing Agency (NTA) cancelled the examination and announced that a re-examination schedule would soon be released.

Officials probing the case have indicated that the racket may span multiple states, with arrests and raids already carried out in Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand and other regions. The CBI has now formally taken over the investigation to trace the origin of the leak and identify all those involved.
