Pune Income Tax Department Hosts Massive ‘PRARAMBH 2026’ Outreach to Unveil the Simplified Income-tax Act, 2025

The Principal Chief PCCIT Office in Pune launched a mega outreach campaign explaining the newly enacted Income-tax Act, 2025, aiming to minimize compliance burdens and foster a trust-based tax ecosystem

May 16, 2026 | Pune: The Office of the Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, Pune, hosted a landmark mega outreach programme under the “PRARAMBH 2026” initiative at the Cosmos Tower Auditorium in Shivajinagar today. The event aimed to sensitize stakeholders to the newly implemented Income-tax Act, 2025, and Income-tax Rules, 2026, which officially replaced the legacy 1961 Act on April 1, 2026. The widespread gathering drew taxpayers, chartered accountants, industry leaders, startups, and senior tax officials.

Distinguished guests included Member of Parliament Dr. Medha Kulkarni as Chief Guest, alongside industrialist Smt. Lila Poonawalla and former MCCIA President Shri Pradeep Bhargava as Guests of Honour. Addressing the gathering, Shri Vivek Wadekar, Principal CCIT Pune, emphasized that the structural overhaul removes decades of complex, accumulated amendments. He noted that the modern framework is specifically engineered to reduce litigation, lower administrative costs, and significantly improve the ease of doing business across the nation.

During her address, Dr. Medha Kulkarni praised the department’s “Nagarik Devo Bhava” approach, highlighting how a transparent, digitized system directly benefits honest taxpayers, middle-class families, and MSMEs. Furthermore, the event showcased cutting-edge digital integration facilities introduced under the PRARAMBH framework. Department officials conducted detailed presentations on new taxpayer-centric tools, including “Kar Saathi”an AI-driven 24/7 chatbot and “Kar Setu,” a comprehensive reference portal designed to enhance transparency.

This mega event marks the beginning of an aggressive regional sensitization campaign. The Pune Income Tax Region announced plans to scale these interactive learning sessions across all 23 districts in its jurisdiction. Immediate rollouts are scheduled for 11 districts next week, including Thane, Nashik, Kolhapur, and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, driving India’s long-term economic vision of a “Viksit Bharat” by 2047.
