Shocking Incident in Gujarat: Man Sells Wife for 50,000 Rupees Leading to Days of Gang-Rape

A resident of Dahod district in Gujarat has been arrested alongside three others after he allegedly sold his wife to another man, who subsequently held her captive and subjected her to multiple assaults

AHMEDABAD | May 28, 2026: In a deeply disturbing incident that has sparked widespread outrage across Gujarat, police in Dahod district have arrested four individuals, including a husband who allegedly traded his wife for 50,000 rupees. Following the transactional sale, the victim was reportedly held in illegal confinement for ten consecutive days and subjected to horrific gang-rape by the buyer and his associates.

According to local law enforcement officials, the victim and the primary accused had been married for several years but suffered from persistent marital discord. In his formal statement to investigators, the husband claimed he had grown exhausted from daily domestic arguments. Seeking an escape, he leveraged a local middleman to orchestrate a financial deal, selling his wife to an acquaintance residing in a neighboring village for a cash sum.

The buyer immediately transported the woman to an isolated, undisclosed location where she was locked in a room. Over the next ten days, the buyer and his accomplices allegedly took turns assaulting her under duress. The victim eventually managed to break free from the containment facility, slipping past her captors to establish contact with her paternal family, who immediately escorted her to the nearest police station.

Dahod police acted swiftly on the woman’s official complaint, launching a targeted raid that resulted in the immediate apprehension of the husband, the buyer, and two facilitating accomplices. Senior police officials confirmed that all four suspects have been remanded to custody under severe sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, promising an expedited investigation to ensure maximum legal retribution for the survivor.
