President Murmu Confers Padma Awards 2026 on Mammootty, Alka Yagnik, Rohit Sharma and Other Distinguished Personalities

India’s prestigious Padma Awards 2026 were conferred upon several eminent personalities, including Mammootty, Alka Yagnik and Rohit Sharma, recognising their outstanding contributions to cinema, music and sports.

President Droupadi Murmu conferred the Padma Awards 2026 on a distinguished group of achievers during the second Civil Investiture Ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi. The ceremony honoured individuals from diverse fields whose contributions have significantly impacted Indian society and brought recognition to the nation.

Among the prominent awardees was veteran Malayalam actor Mammootty, who received the Padma Bhushan for his remarkable contribution to Indian cinema spanning more than five decades. Widely regarded as one of the finest actors in the country, Mammootty’s recognition was hailed as a significant moment for the film fraternity.

Celebrated playback singer Alka Yagnik was also honoured with the Padma Bhushan. With a career marked by numerous chart-topping songs and accolades, Yagnik has remained one of the most influential voices in Indian music. Her contribution to the entertainment industry has left a lasting legacy across generations of listeners.

Indian cricket captain Rohit Sharma was among the notable recipients recognised for his achievements in sports. His leadership and consistent performances on the international stage have made him one of the most respected figures in world cricket.

The ceremony also saw honours being presented to personalities from public affairs, literature, education, social work and other sectors. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, senior Union ministers and several dignitaries attended the event, which celebrated excellence, service and dedication across disciplines.
