In a significant step towards enhancing safety standards in the construction sector, CREDAI Pune has launched a comprehensive ‘Site Safety Audit’ initiative to improve the safety and well-being of construction workers across the city. The programme has been introduced by CREDAI Pune’s Labour Welfare Committee in collaboration with SafeSkill Safety Services and was inaugurated at the Godrej River Royale project in Mahalunge, developed by Synergy SKYi Infra Developments.
The initiative is designed to promote greater awareness about workplace safety, conduct periodic safety inspections, and encourage member developers to adopt industry best practices while ensuring compliance with government safety regulations. The audits will evaluate several critical aspects of construction sites, including electrical safety, working at heights, excavation practices, material handling, temporary staging and scaffolding, fire safety, machinery operations, and overall risk management.
As part of the audit process, safety experts will carry out on-site inspections, examine safety documentation, and interact with engineers, safety officers, and workers to assess existing practices. Each project will receive a detailed audit report highlighting compliance levels, identified risks, and recommendations for corrective measures to enhance workplace safety.
CREDAI Pune President Manish Jain said the construction industry is among the country’s largest employment generators, making worker safety a shared responsibility for all stakeholders. He noted that adopting higher safety standards would not only reduce workplace risks but also improve productivity and overall construction quality. Labour Welfare Committee Chairman J.P. Shroff added that the objective of the audit is not to identify faults but to create opportunities for continuous improvement and safer construction environments.

Officials said the initiative, built around the theme “Safety Today, Secures Tomorrow,” will continue across member projects in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad. With encouraging participation from developers, CREDAI Pune believes the programme will help establish stronger safety benchmarks while fostering a culture of responsible and sustainable construction practices throughout the region.
