The annual Sant Tukaram Maharaj Palkhi Procession received a grand and devotional welcome as it entered Pimpri-Chinchwad on Wednesday evening, with thousands of Warkaris and residents gathering to participate in the spiritual celebrations.
To mark the arrival of the revered Palkhi, Marathi daily Pudhari organised a special devotional programme titled Abhangrang, offering a musical tribute through soulful renditions of traditional Abhangs. National award-winning singer Abhishek Kale captivated the audience with devotional compositions including “Jai Jai Ram Krishna Hari,” “Samadhi Sadhan Sanjeevan Naam,” “Rajas Sukumar Madanacha Putala,” and “Vitthal Vitthal Namachiye Gajari.” His performance immersed devotees in an atmosphere of faith and devotion.
The event was held near Madhukar Pawale Bridge in Nigdi, where Warkaris from across Maharashtra gathered in large numbers. The devotional programme transformed the venue into a vibrant spiritual celebration, with devotees enthusiastically chanting “Dnyanoba Mauli Tukaram,” performing traditional Fugdi dances, and participating in the symbolic Ringan ceremony.

Despite intermittent rainfall, the enthusiasm of devotees remained undiminished. Families, senior citizens, children, and local residents joined the Warkaris in celebrating the arrival of the Palkhi, reflecting the enduring cultural and spiritual significance of the centuries-old Wari tradition.
The programme was accompanied by Atharva Kulkarni on harmonium, Kartik Swami on tabla, and Milind Lingayat on pakhawaj, while Swaanand Patwardhan compered the event. A floral tribute was also offered to the Palkhi, adding to the devotional atmosphere.
Several dignitaries attended the occasion, including MLA Shankar Jagtap, BJP city president Shatrughan Kate, former corporator Vikas Sane, Deputy Commissioner of Police Vikrant Deshmukh, and other public representatives.
As the Palkhi continued its onward journey towards Pandharpur, the celebrations in Pimpri-Chinchwad once again highlighted Maharashtra’s rich devotional heritage and the unifying spirit of the Wari tradition.
