Pune Tourist Beaten to Death in Mahabaleshwar; Four Arrested for Alleged Murder

A tourist from Pune district died after being allegedly assaulted by four local residents in Mahabaleshwar’s Bhose village. Police have arrested all four accused and launched a murder investigation.

A leisure trip to the Mahabaleshwar-Panchgani hill station turned tragic after a young tourist from Pune district was allegedly beaten to death by four local residents in Bhose village. Police have arrested all four accused and registered a case of murder, while further investigation into the incident is underway.

The deceased has been identified as Akshay Ramesh Jadhav, a resident of Bhigwan in Indapur taluka. According to police, Jadhav had travelled to Mahabaleshwar with his friend Vishal Jadhav and a group of companions for a holiday. The group was staying at a hotel in Bhose village when the incident occurred late at night.

Investigators said the group had allegedly consumed alcohol before returning to their accommodation. As Jadhav was reportedly heavily intoxicated, his friends left him in the room and went to the terrace. When they returned, they discovered he was missing and began searching for him. A short distance from the hotel, they found a crowd gathered around Jadhav, who was allegedly being assaulted by several local residents.

Police said the accused allegedly suspected that Jadhav had entered or attempted to look inside one of their houses, leading to a violent confrontation. He was reportedly attacked with wooden sticks, stones and fists, sustaining critical injuries. He was initially taken to a government hospital in Panchgani before being shifted to hospitals in Wai and later Baramati, where he succumbed to his injuries during treatment.

The four accused have been identified as Suryakant Chandrakant Gole, Avinash Satish Bhosale, Rahul Janardan Rajpure and Amol Ganadev Wadkar. Following the registration of a Zero FIR, Panchgani Police arrested all four and booked them for murder under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Authorities said the investigation is continuing to establish the complete sequence of events and determine whether any additional individuals were involved.
