Accused Taken Back to the Cliff:
Pune Rural Police escort prime accused Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary back to Lohagad Fort to recreate the sequence of events that allegedly led to the death of 26-year-old businessman Ketan Agarwal on June 18.
June 29, 2026 | Lonavala:

Investigators took the two accused Siya Goyal, Ketan’s fiancée, and her alleged secret lover Chetan Chaudhary to the precise location at Lohagad Fort where Ketan plunged into a nearly 400-foot-deep gorge. The crime scene reconstruction, conducted under heavy security and supervised by Pune Rural Superintendent of Police Sandeep Singh Gill, was aimed at matching the accused’s interrogation statements against ground realities and establishing the exact sequence of events that unfolded that day.
Forensic experts collected the hoodie and headphones allegedly worn by Chaudhary during the visit and sent them for laboratory examination, while investigators also seized his motorcycle, believed to have been used to travel to Lonavala on the day of the incident. Authorities believe these items could prove pivotal in building the prosecution’s case.
Adding a new layer to the investigation, a video circulating on social media purportedly shows Goyal and Chaudhary together at a local cricket match, which investigators believe is where the two first grew close. Police maintain this footage bolsters their assertion that the duo were romantically involved well before Siya’s engagement to the victim.
Investigators further alleged that Siya’s family was aware of the relationship yet proceeded with her engagement to Ketan, despite her reported reluctance to marry him. Her parents have since been called in for questioning as police examine whether family pressure played a role in the alleged conspiracy.
What was first recorded as an accidental fall during a trek took a sharp turn after technical evidence, witness accounts, and call data records pointed investigators toward a premeditated killing.
Following a meeting between Ketan’s family and Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, the Maharashtra government ordered a fast-track trial and appointed senior advocate and Rajya Sabha MP Ujjwal Nikam as Special Public Prosecutor. Defence lawyer Ashutosh Srivastava is representing Siya Goyal and has indicated he will contest any further extension of police custody, which was set to expire on June 29.
